    The reason I say this is a good build to you is more so based on how you play and what you enjoy. Use the builds people suggest yes, but also experiment with whatever build comes to mind or change up things about the builds people give you. It's a very versatile weapon but it's not superior in a specific area. But that being said the con for this weapon is it's a jack of all trades but a master of none. It has both massive single target and swarm clear potential depending on how you build it and is obviously very accurate.

    Each weapon itself has pros and cons and have certain tradeoffs. All of the weapons gunner has (and any dwarf for that matter) are good. I believe what you're lacking is more experience with these weapons.
